About Cheryl

When Cheryl starred in her very first advertisement at age 4 for Magnolia ice cream — smiling exaggeratedly through the brain freeze — she simply could not have imagined that her 15 minutes of fame would last a lifetime. “I wasn't even supposed to be cast because I was too young for it. I just happened to be there for my sister’s audition.”

Although Cheryl’s “flair for drama” paved the way for her to become a television actress in one of the nation’s longest-running and recurrent TV soaps and a “hobbyist” singer who recorded an album and played Deena Jones, the lead role in the licensed staging of the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls" at the National Theatre, she considers TV presenting her first love.

An industry go-to for music TV programmes, Cheryl who was once an MTV Asia VJ, her body of work includes  talent search reality programmes like “Malaysian Idol” and “Anugerah Juara Lagu”. Off the silver screen, Cheryl has hosted a variety of events including the opening ceremony of the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. 

Above all else, Cheryl is a mother of two little girls, Stella and Kate, and is married to Malaysian film director, producer, screenwriter of the hugely popular Malaysian English-language comedy “Kopitiam” (among others) and now hotelier Ng Ping Ho.
